My Sweet Talker

When we were at my brother's house for dinner tonight, Cody came in from playing outside and he was carefully holding something in his hand. He came up to me and slowly opened up his hand. In it was a little, yellow flower. He said, "Mommy, this for you. It's pwetty jus like you!"

Now I'm sure my nieces told him what to say, but either way, it made my day. It was the first flower he had ever picked for me. If you know me, you know I'll keep that little flower and never throw it away. And one day, when he brings home his girlfriends, I'll show them that flower to make sure they know he will NEVER love them as much as he loves me what a sweet guy he is.

It's a little wilted because I didn't have my camera and had to wait until we got home to take a picture of it!

It's Soccer Time

Our season has officially started. And yes, it's not just Ty and McKinly's season, it's our season as well. I have, once again, been conned into agreed to be Ty's team mom.

I have been doing it for the past 5 seasons now so I have the hang of it, but it just takes up more time the older he gets. There are more kids on his team which means more snack schedules, more phone calls, and more people to keep track of. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy getting to be this involved with Ty's soccer I just seem to run out of time.

McKinly has started playing soccer this season so of course she demands expects me to do for her what I do for Ty. I might end up driving myself crazy before this is all said and done!!! What am I going to do next season when I have three kids in Soccer?? I might have to hire a secretary. Anyone need a part time job that doesn't pay anything?? Any takers, come on, it's for a good cause!

McKinly's first practice, she was doing lunges...ouch!

She worked really hard for her first practice...she needed a little break

Cade enjoyed being at soccer practice too

Cody enjoyed the slide best of all

McKinly did such an awesome job at her first soccer practice. She is on a team with 10 boys and 3 girls. Today, she was the only girl at practice and she kept up with those smelly boys! T.J. couldn't get over how well she did. She has never played before, only watched, and she did great! We thought she would be a little shy, but she proved us wrong!

Ty had a game this morning but I forgot my camera. He has another game tomorrow so I'll be sure and get pictures then. His team did a great job but you can tell they're all a little out of shape. We'll have to work them a little harder at their next practice.

Lazy Days

All we have been doing is loungin' around, not doing much of anything the past couple days. We're all resting up for the start of Soccer season. Both McKinly and Ty are playing soccer this season so we will be living at the soccer fields. We better get used to it, Cody is old enough to play starting in the Spring!

35?? Now that's OLD!

Today is T.J.'s 35th Birthday. That's half way to 70!!! Now, while I made fun of him this morning (over and over again) for his old age, the kids celebrated it by bringing him breakfast in bed.

About to bring it in to the birthday boy

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

"So, are you my dad or my grandpa, old man?"

T.J. had a great morning (even though he would have preferred to sleep in past 8 am).
Tonight we're taking him out to dinner and then we have a babysitter so we can go out with some friends and watch a couple football games.

A night without any kids?? Is it my birthday too??

Better Late than Never

This weekend, our neighborhood had their end of summer bash. Cody and Cade had a great time dancing to music, eating, and swimming. Cade was extremely well behaved and sat in his stroller the whole time we were there and never fussed once. This was a big help considering T.J. didn't get to go with us because he was at his fantasy football draft (translation; we will not see T.J. for the next 4 months because he will be focused on his "team"). The boys and I went with a neighbor whose husband was at the draft with T.J. This is something they look forward to all year long so we couldn't be too upset they weren't with us. Plus, they fed our addiction earlier in the week by allowing us to go buy more clothes for our kids, so we could only be so kind and allow them to go off and play.

The party was great and I even won a gift card to Sonic. Cody had a blast and was upset when I told him it was time to leave. You think by 9:30 a two year old would of had enough fun, but oh no, not my child...there was more partying left in him. So, with a promise to get a sucker when we got home, we left the party around 10:00 and by 10:05, he was passed out (without having his sucker which he was sure to bring up to me the minute he woke up the next morning).

Cody and his dessert plate he got all on his own. He was so proud!

What a stud! Not just one older woman, but two!

Cade enjoying his dinner!

Dancin' in the pool

Unfortunately, this weekend coming up is the last weekend our pool will be open this year. The official end of summer for us. Hopefully it won't end up raining so we can enjoy one last weekend of swimming.

Our Surprise Visitors

On Thursday night, we were greeted with some surprise visitors! My step-mom, Kathie and my little brother, Clay were driving back from Utah and decided to stay with us the night before driving back to Texas. We even talked them into staying another night even though I didn't have to do much convincing.

McKinly and my little brother are the exact same age so it's fun to see them around one another. They have always got along really well.

I'm glad they got to spend a couple nights with us because the kids LOVED them being here. McKinly needed it after a tough week at school. Although, she has met a few new girls and is starting to get used to her new school. I wouldn't quite say she likes it right now, but at least we're progressing. She had two tests on Friday and did very well on both of them so as of now, this change isn't affecting her school work. I am very proud of her, she has been trying to focus on all the positives right now.
